Travelogue
I left home as a budding youth. It was for my Ph.D. at University of London in England. I did not know that was the beginning of a travelogue.
While a student, I traveled to Heidelberg by train, passing through Belgium, where I would later return as a Visiting Professor. This trip was for a Summer School in Physics, as these events were popularly attended.
Per chance, I met Professor Speiser, who invited me to Catholic University of Louvain. This position as a Visiting Professor was a privilege.
While at Louvain, a NATO supported Summer School was held, which was a memorable thing. That followed by a Summer School at Erice in Italy, an enchanting village on top of a hill.
The experience took me to the International Center for Theoretical Physics, where I was invited as a Visiting Scientist. This was a time when beauty and romance were in the air. The center was situated in the gardens of the Castle of Miramar.
Then I ended up in the land of Thousand and One Nights. As a professor at the University in Baghdad, I experienced a place full of enchantments. The beauty and legends of Arabia together with a citadel of spirituality.
I was approaching thirty, and I decided to take a long holiday.
I drove home in my old Ford Escort, that still had Belgian tags, even if expired . I drove though Iran and Afghanistan, the latter was a heaven for visitors.
During my long holiday, I got married, visited USA briefly, and then went to Nigeria as a Mathematics professor.
I decided to come back to USA and call it home. The subsequent years were settled, and without adventure. These were also the years without intellectual challenges, spiritual accomplishments, or even travel explorations.
Life had confronted me with situations that impressed me towards spiritual living, because I had realized that this was the only way to a happy, fulfilled and peaceful living.
But it was only a hunch. It remained to be explored and discovered.
I trotted the world again, with an eye towards spiritual living, a happy living, a fulfilling way, and a way drenched in peace.
I had never written a travelogue, because it was always for me. But, what I discovered this time was not for me only. I wanted to let everyone in. I wrote two books on my spiritual living and inner encounters. Here they are.
